Re: Don't Give Up - Peter Gabriel
The major feature, of course, was the bass guitar. If you mean the original, then that would be Tony Levin, one of the best bass guitars on the planet (in my top five) and lovely guy to boot. One of our best Chapman stick players, and inventor of "funk fingers" (little drum sticks you att...

Re: Don't Give Up - Peter Gabriel
I am intrigued as to how anybody could mistake an English Public School boy and ex-singer of THE quintessential English progressive rock band (that small band called Genesis) for being an Aussie? Unless it's a ruse to get people to listen to your tune ;) Unfortunately for me, the song is too iconic ...

Re: Hi from Coventry UK
Well there was a moment of spooky serendipity I was cheeking the forum, reading a hello message from a new member from Coventry, and on the TV my missus is watching an Antiques road trip programme (one of those forever on repeat!) which is currently looking at the bike museum in Coventry! Welcome, a...

Greetings. We have Amigas (sold on now, sadly), Alastair Reynolds and Wavesequencing in common
My Wavesequencing is courtesy of my Kronos, new Wavestate and virtual wavestation. I love the concept for evolving pads.

Re: Greetings from Finland
Welcome from a TG77 and SY99 owner (amongst many other things Yamaha). I am mostly a Yamaha man, but do love my non Yamaha synths as well. :) The SY77/TG77/SY99 are still amazing sounding synths. And FM does respond well to breath control. I never really got on well with a standard BC2 or BC3, but I...

Re: Hello from Turin, Italy
Hello and welcome I am not sure how easy it will be to find a replacement slider for the SY77. but if that is the only problem maybe there is a way of removing the slider and solder a temporary link to provide full volume out and you manage the volume on whatever mixing device you are connecting int...

Re: Hello from Australia
Hello, and welcome. I’ve been to Brisbane a few times on business, and always enjoyed my time there.
I don’t have a GENOS myself, but others hear do, so hopefully you will find what you are looking for.

Re: 2010Milovanovic
Personally I have always been underwhelmed by sample and synthesis Rhodes facsimiles. One of the best Rhodes I have ever heard and still one of my favourites is from the Yamaha EX5, because although it is still sample based those samples are run through the Electric Piano model in its FDSP engine, w...

Re: 2010Milovanovic
Just looked at the data list for the MX61, and I’d say the first 12 KB/EP voices are most likely Rhodes. Anything with the words vintage and 74 in it usually is :) NB: a lot of manufacturers deliberately avoid specific names to avoid copyright issues. That said, the name Wurli is in the data list! S...

Re: New to the Forum from sunny Devon UK
Hi, I am not a GENOS owner, so cannot answer the question, but in this case, the first thing I would do would be to take a complete backup of the contents of the GENOS memory using its disk utilities (sorry I cannot be more specific). And store the backup files on your computer. I also assume you ha...

Re: New member, keyboardist from Ontario, Canada
Welcome to somebody else who plays some Floyd (well I used to before the lock down). I gig with a Montage 7, Kronos X61 and I also have an NUC PC that hosts any VST I wish to use live. That combo gives me all of the sounds I need to play Prog as the originals sounded (can’t say my playing is as good...

Re: Site speed issues and possible solutions
Seems OK right now. On the image optimising, it would be nice if the forum could do that to save users worrying about it. Set your limits and have them compressed/scaled on upload? Is that feasible?
