Re: keyboards

Hello and welcome. I'm afraid I cannot help much myself as I prefer semi-weighted boards and I do very little piano, but I am sure somebody else will be a long with some good advice soon.

Re: Sending Data from PC to DX11

Hi, I do not know the DX11, but if it is like the DX7 and DX7II (and that VMEM side that Sonus gives looks like a DX7 32 voice bulk dump size) then it may be that you cannot change single voices in memory.

Re: Sending Data from PC to DX11

Hi. I don't know about F7A files. SYSEX files can be opened in a utility like MIDIOX and sent to your synth. MID files are usually SYSEX data embded in a MDI sequence, so you should be able to open them in something like Windows Media Player and see what happens (you of course need to set the MDI de...

No worries. Easy enough to update a bookmark.

What happened to the forum migration? I thought that this is what the post was referring to.

Re: sy.factory or SY Manager?

Can't really answer myself as I have a slight bias... ;)

SY manager does path support editing but I never felt the need for that myself given the ease of doing it from the front panel, which is why I focused on the file/librarian and cross platform aspects.

Horses for courses :)

Re: sy.factory Problems

Hi, Have you downloaded and tried the latest version? It has some bug fixes in it which may or may not help, but to track down an obscure problem another user had, I have added application error logging, so it would be interesting to see if this picks up anything (again during testing it is all work...

Re: Schematics for the PSU

thanks derek. The PSU from the A3000 is an option. But if possible fixing the psu is better. So i want to try it. As many Ex5 had psu problems maybe someone got the same symptoms and fixed it? So at least i know where to look at. Hi. Yes understand how you feel. Would have loved to repaired mine, b...

Re: Schematics for the PSU

Hi, I had exactly the same problem. No circuit diagram for the PSU exists as it was a 3rd party PSU that Yamaha brought it. Neither Yamaha nor their approved repairer will support the PSU. I traced the fault (at least) to a short circuit diode (cause or effect?) which we could not identify (can't re...

Re: Problems with MIDI connection

I think if you purchase am M-Audio device, even a "MIDI USB Lead" you are probably OK, but I personally cannot vouch for this device. If others say it works with SYSEX then it is worth a chance, but if not I would still go with a MIDI-SPORT. Your call of course. Question is how much money are you pr...

Re: AfterGlow

Hi From what I have seen, Steve Howell (former Electronics and Music Maker contributor, if you remember that hallowed tome) served the Fusion well with his sample sets. You need to dig out A Farewell to Kings or get it on media you can play. Class album! Hearing Xanadu for the first time in 1979 on ...

Re: Problems with MIDI connection

Thanks for the recommendation. I indeed have a 3€ USB MIDI cable. Is there anything cheaper than the MIDISPORT 2x2 with still acceptable quality? And anything special I need to consider concerning the MIDI cables? There is the MIDISPORT 1x1 which will also do the job and that is £22.95 https://www....

Re: AfterGlow

On my business trip today, I was in the car listening to the other great album that showcases the Taurus. Rush and "A Farewell to Kings". Xanadu is still one of the coolest openings ever! Had to listen to it twice on max volume! :) And you can't beat a bit of Genesis "Los Endos" either, especially t...
