Re: photobucket holding pictures for ransom

My pleasure (?), no, that isn't right is it? It can't be a pleasure to have to report a spammer, can it? ... Anyway. The trouble is I've got 13 Meg of zipped images! They include a whole stack of images from my MIDI tutorials site too. Perhaps it's finally time to bite the bullet and host the images...

Re: photobucket holding pictures for ransom

In view of this, I've just downloaded all the images I've been hosting there as a zip file, while I decide where to go to host them.

Re: Anyone come across mSATA SSDs?

Sounds complex to me, Chris. ;-) :? I think I'll stick to the little eSATA boxes I posted about on the mp3 Walkman thread. 8) (Y) Added later Well, that's the 1TB WD HDD added. Another nice simple upgrade. Remove one screw which holds a cover over the corner of the laptop. Find the little "tab" that...

Re: RE: Sony mp3 Walkman (help?)

Another bit of freeware which I've just discovered is AOMEI Backupper. There seems to be a good amount of positive feedback about the product on the web, so I've downloaded a copy. With regard to Windoze 10 from MicroSnot (you got the spelling wrong, Chris ;-) ) I've vowed never to let it near to an...

Re: Anyone come across mSATA SSDs?

Yup! Agreed, regarding the reliability of WD ... so far. ;-) That's one reason that I went for the T420, it has an eSATA port, which means I can 'pop' another external drive on at any time for backups, etc. It's always worked pretty well on my elderly XP laptop. This seems to be a real advantage of ...

Re: RE: Sony mp3 Walkman (help?)

Glad you sorted that, Paul.
I was beginning to feel I'd led you up the garden path there.

I've just realised my copy of EAC is a Beta version!
V1 beta 3 to be exact, from 2011.
It just shows how long ago it was that I first installed it.

Re: Anyone come across mSATA SSDs?

Yup, it's quite quick to boot up now, Saul. Hmmm! Now ... how about a nice high speed drive for the samples? A Western Digital "Black", 7200rpm, 1 TB, 2.5 inch one? WD10JPLX-1TB.jpg Didn't they once call these drives "Scorpio"? Just another 65 quid, (and a lot of time to format it). I'm rather parti...

Re: RE: Sony mp3 Walkman (help?)

That's very strange, Paul.
It didn't happen to me. I can't explain it.

Re: Anyone come across mSATA SSDs?

Quick progress report: The drive (a tiny card) arrived today, extremely well packed. mSATA.jpg On the laptop, I undid one screw to remove the cover from underneath (Lenovo T420), then one retaining screw. The drive just slips into place and is screwed down. Put the cover back on underneath and boot ...

Re: Anyone come across mSATA SSDs?

Thanks Chris, Interesting, until I bought the T420 I had no idea that there was such a thing as mSATA. Of course, thinking about it, it does seem a logical thing to do, to take some SSD chips and make them act as the C:\ drive. As far as I can see, the device will be tiny, an inch or so wide and two...

Re: New VL Editor

Well, I've downloaded the demonstration version, although it may be a few weeks before I get around to trying it. The move to the new laptop, and trying out this mSATA SSD will take priority, then testing the E-MU 02 Cardbus via an Expresscard adapter so I can use the 1616m audio/MIDI breakout inter...

Re: New VL Editor

Thanks for that Derek,

I've been thinking very recently of digging out my EWI 4000s and connecting it to a rather ancient VL70m that I picked up and experimenting with voices again. This might be just the ticket to create some new, enhanced voices.

Re: Anyone come across mSATA SSDs?

Thanks Saul,

I've just received an email to say my new mSATA disk has been shipped, so I shall give it a go.
Been surfing around to see what instructions there may be.
It seems that It does/will act as the C:\ drive so I juts need to clone the HDD across it would appear.
Will keep you posted.

Anyone come across mSATA SSDs?

One for the computer literate amongst us. Having recently bought a 2nd user, Lenovo Thinkpad, T420 laptop with Windows 7 on it, I have just discovered that it has a second socket, in the compartment where one installs the extra 4GB of memory, where one can insert a memory card known as an mSATA SSD!...

Re: Thanks button added

Having held back a little to observe, I think that Michael, aka SeaGtGruff, makes a very valid point.
It makes it very easy to say a "thank you" doesn't it?

Hope you had a good holiday, Chris?
