Well previously it was not visible in my browser, something must have changed that made it show up.

I'll probably upload the rest of the ones i shot at the time. Essentially they are the same but with my son talking over it and me occasionally filming my leg by mistake! But it shows me playing the sound more and over more octaves.

I got a reply from yamaha uk. Same as you said Saul, but i wanted to officially report it direct from myself. With the date of purchase and serial number etc.

quote from reply

"I have viewed your link to youtube and can hear the acoustic piano voice, but I cannot recreate it on Reface CP here
I shall get back to you if I can find the secret
Kind regards
Dusty

I'm very happy to hear Dusty is still about . . . He was MASSIVELY helpful to me some years ago on the subject of FW upgrades for the SY85.

I can't stress enough how GOOD this guy is, if you can get to speak to him . . . .

His knowledge (especially of the older gear) is staggering, but more importantly, if he can't call it to mind on the phone - he KNOWS where to look to find it, and will put you on hold while he does so . . .

THAT, is real "Service" . . .

Looks like I've come to a bit of a dead end on my mission! Put a similar thread in Gearslutz forum but no solutions there as yet.

I'll post here if ever i find out how to get that piano sound back again.

This takes me back to 1994 when I bought a new TG300. There was some strange bug with the LFO where a slow Sine setting on the filter would jump from time to time with each keypress. It was sent back to Yamaha and came back with a different PCB inside with a label on one of the ICs stating "Dusty's", I think he swapped PCBs. The rotary encoder on the front panal was a bit jumpy but I didn't mention that at the time but when the unit came back he had changed it out. I'm sure most tech's wouldn't have bothered about it.

Yeah have to say Dusty has a well deserved reputation. Will be an extremely sad day when he decides to retire :(

Wholeheartedly agree on that Saul.

For those who don't "get" the "Dusty" Miller thing, (I didn't - once when the French Master called me that, at Secondary School) . . .

It's all about the "Occupation" (Being a Miller - which I guess is how the name came about?) . . .

The environment of a Flour Mill was very Dusty, so , "The Miller" was invariable covered in the stuff  . . .

And so the name, er - Stuck . . . IYSWIM

My Mum and Dad always remarked how curious it was that she ( a GARNER) had married a MILLER?

Occupationally fortuitous IYSWIM . . . .
