MusikMesse 2016 - Yamaha Transacoustic Guitars

Based on their L-series, the transacoustic guitar is a completely revolutionary new concept, creating an instrument that produces the same incredible sound found in a great sounding room.

I definitely HAVE to have one of these! The new Yamaha Transacoustic Guitar, advantages of an amp...without the amp!

((i)) Now that's is an interesting piece of kit. ((i))

 The concept really should be flawed, but it isn't.

It does have a built in amp, using the deck as a speaker via an actuator.
At the same time, the guitar still has a piezo located in the bridge, on top of the deck .......
This should give a direct feedback howl, but it doesn't, now that is AMAZING :!:

This guitar can be louder than an ordinary acoustic guitar, and it has built in chorus and reverb too.

Truly innovative, Yamaha is back on the track with this creation. :D ((i)) 8)

:?: I wonder how long the batteries will last in this guitar. :?:

The actuator turning the deck into a speaker may pull a lot of power depending on volume level.

Still, it's Yamaha innovation at it's best giving volume and effects to a guitar without any exterior accessories.

Looking forward to get a hands on review from a forum member. 8)

Peter

I will of course try and get a review model as soon as they are in the country but at the now, £750 retail price I do think it's one I may go for myself. Will see how it goes of course but from what I have heard and seen so far it's a winner.

By the way, should have that Vox Starstream soon ;)

Unread post by Buzzard » Mon Jul 11, 2016 9:49 pm

Interesting .... .... somewhat similar to the Yamaha Transacoustic Guitars, but a device mounted on the back of the guitar:

Interesting indeed. certainly a versatile unit in that you can use it with a large number of acoustic guitars. I will still probably go for a Transacoustic although that is dependent on how the thing plays when I get my hands on one. Great though that acoustic guitars are getting a bit more attention in terms of technology these days :)

The Tonewood unit is a great bang for the buck: 229us$ ........ but it's another bulk that could feel uncomfortable to the player.

I too prefer the Yamaha construction, but the Tonewood amp still a cool and affordable device, giving acoustic guitars more edge. ((i))

Two things that bother me with this though. The feedback issue and the fact that it looks like something from the 80's. Could they have not put it in a better looking and much smaller case?
