Elegant design and sonic solutions are Yamaha traditions. Yamaha continues to innovate with the Silent Series. Originally designed as ideal practice and travel instruments, the steel-string SLG100S and nylon-string SLG100N quickly became popular with touring guitarists enamored with its practical, feedback-free live applications and modern jet-age appearance. The custom-designed pickup systems by L.R. Baggs and B-Band faithfully reproduce every nuance, providing full, rich tone for stage and studio work. The SLG twins also feature great sounding built-in Yamaha digital reverbs. Backstage, on the tour bus, or at home, the SLG100 easily fulfills the role of a woodshed axe, thanks to its comfortable, lightweight composite frame and included earbud-style headphones. With the AUX IN jack, you can connect a CD player for private jamming. When you're finished, the SLG100 quickly dismatles and stores in the included compact gig bag for easy storage and travel. The SLG100 works with batteries or the included power supply.

Revolutionary Super-Light 4-String Bass

The next revolution in evolution. The conventional wisdom in building electric guitars has long been that the more uniform and heavy the material, the better the sound. Yamaha has shattered this concept with an advanced technology called Alternative Internal Resonance, or A.I.R. for short. A.I.R. combines lightweight and resonant softwoods sandwiched between harder tonewoods creating an instrument loaded with sustain and tone while maintaining an ultra lightweight construction. Already proven in the RGX line,Yamaha now offers this sustain and tone in the RBX line with the RBX4 A2.

The original Yamaha RGXTT guitar was introduced in January, 2000. The "TT" suffix stands for co-designer Ty Tabor who plays guitar in Kings X.
Ty contributed his "wish list" of features to this line of all-business rock guitars.
In June of 2000, the redesigned and lower cost RGX Yamaha guitar started life with a price of $499 MSRP.
The "D6", for drop six, is Yamaha's derivation of Ty's original RGX and denotes that this guitar was designed from the beginning to be tuned down for a weightier sound.
A typical string tuning begins with the normally low E string tuned down to a low C. Chord shapes stay the same as regularly tuned guitars but,
for example an E chord becomes a big fat C chord.
You'll be glad to know that now there's no stress or need to learn a seven-string guitar just to get that low B string sound.
A 26 1/4 inch scale neck is used along with heavier gauge strings to achieve this.

RGXTT-D6_E.pdf
(55.7 KiB) Downloaded 7 times
The D6 has the same construction, materials and looks of the original Ty Tabor RGXTT model.
The basswood body has a raised center section of figured maple running the length of the body.
The pickups and bridge are attached to this maple section that is said to help focus the low-midrange frequencies.
The rest of the body tapers towards the edges making for a lighter instrument.

Image

The RGXTTD6 uses a Seymour Duncan Jeff Beck pickup in the bridge position and Vintage Rails pickups at the middle and neck positions.
You also get a Wilkinson VS100 Tremolo, a maple neck with rosewood fingerboard and a pitched headstock.
The Sperzel Locking tuners are mounted in a staggered layout, keeping the strings at a consistent pull-angle away from the nut.
All hardware is black including the 5-position pickup selector, master volume and master tone controls.
Available in Red Burst, Green Burst and Purple Burst, the RGXTTD6 carries an MSRP of $1,699 and will begin shipping in November, 2000.

The AES620 SH features a mahogany body with a figured maple veneer top powered by two humbucking pickups including a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge.
The set-in mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard are enhanced with the world-famous Cabo Wabo™ logo inlaid at the 12th fret.

Yamaha RJ-420D and EGK-300 Eterna

Image

If anyone think they look a bit like a double cut Les Paul and a strat, I would agree.

The RJ-420D has been modded quite a bit:
Pickups have been changed and pickup surrounds mounted.
Seller told me the pups should be Wilkinson PAF, or something like them.
The Yamaha logo and torch on the head has been removed/polished away,
and the volume and tone knobs have been changed to the black knurly type.
Still, it looks, feels and plays fine. ((i))
Anyone who knows more about this rare, but reasonable priced oddball, please come forward.
Image

The EGK-300 Eterna was hiding at my local music pusher, but needed a new home.
This one I think is stock, with some dings and dongs, but looking ok, sounding very stratish.

EGK-300 Eterna Specifications:

That is a gorgeous instrument. Well done Peter.

I have not heard of the branding "Exart". From the price it would appear to be a high end brand like Lexus is to Toyota? Or have I got my currency conversion very wrong which is possible depnding on the exact release dates? In any case that is such a rare item you must be very happy to get it.

I look forward to hearing/seeing more when it arrives.

The pictured NSF is interesting as it looks almost completely "Super Flighter".

Cheers Dd. :D

I'm SO LOOKING FORWARD to get this beauty home. ((i))

Only two Exart models were made by the Y.M.T. brand. (Yamaha Music Trading)

NSX-2000 - basically an SX-900B reproduction.

NSF-2000 - basically an SF-1000 reproduction. (Yeah, the top of the line SuperFlighter 1000)

Both are supposed to be extremely well made and only 180 guitars produced of each type. (not verified yet).
I already have the lowend(ish) SX-60 and love it to bits, so the Exart must be fabulous :!: :?:
I wouldn't mind to get my hands on the NSF-2000 , but the lines of the NSX-2000 is just about the sexiest guitar I've ever seen.

If you havn't allready found the ebay add, here's some of the sellers pictures:
Image Image Image Image

The tuners look a bit primitive compared to the normal closed type. :!:

Then I found some pictures online of the yellow/natural version:

There's also supposed to be a Brown sunburst version, but I havn't found pictures yet. :)

Yamaha Guitars , The Exart has landed.

Unread post by Buzzard » Sun May 25, 2014 1:52 pm

((i))

It arrived a couple of days ago, but needed a little bit of polish, fretboard oiling, neck adjustment, action hight and intonation adjustment.

Don't get me wrong, the guitar is in excellent condition, but since I changed to thinner strings: Roto Nexus NXE9 , I could as well give it the works.

Some of the REALLY cool features is the moulded case. Exart moulded in the lid.
Image

and a small sticker states exaxtly whitch guitar that goes in it, including the serial number of the guitar.
This may not be factory original, but still a cool feature.
Image Image

The Roto Nexus strings are Black and Gold, PERFECT for this guitar.
Image Image

There's also a warranty card (in japanese) and the original keys are included too.
Image Image

So how does it sound ? , let's see, 3 single coil pickups and a 5-way switch: it sounds strat(ish), a warmer tone, not quite as trebly, but very clear.
My fears about the old fashioned tuners are no worry, they keep in tune just fine.
Even though I got this beauty home, I'm still keeping my SX-60, they are similar, but sound VERY different, The SX-60 sounds more tele(ish).
Image

The only mod I intend to do, is to mount straplock knobs, for safety of NOT DROPPING the guitar.

Fantastic Peter. Looks good with the Nexus strings. I like the open tuners. They add class. Of course they need more care than the sealed ones but should be mechanically just as sound.

If you don't want to add bulky straplock buttons, it is possible to get plastic discs which slip over the button and strap end and are almost invisible. I bought several a few years ago. I will try to find out what they are called.

Thanks Guys :D

This guitar is among my favorites :!: up there with the SG-3000 and Weddingtons.

I use Schaller strap locks on most of my guitars, a brilliant system,
quite small compared to standard strap knobs and they're available in gold, black and silver.

Hi Peter,

While researching I found this link which in turn brought me in a back door to the forum, so I decided to post. (http://www.tdpri.com/forum/guitar-owner ... ub-12.html) Let me just say WOW, you have some Beautiful guitars!!!! I mean a lot of Beautiful guitars!!!!
Forgive me for posting to older posts but they are new to me and it is still a fabulous collection. Oh, how does the Yamaha RGX-A2 sound? I have the chance to get one fairly cheap.

Hi Jeff, no worries, this old post is work in progress, just like my Yamaha amp post,
they just don't show up as new when I have edited or added new pictures :D

If you can get a Yamaha RGX-A2 at a reasonable price, it's worth a try:
