Hi, I would say 'welcome to YM' but it looks like you have been a watcher for a while so welcome to your first post.

The EX5 takes two different kinds of RAM - main working RAM and FLASH RAM which retains it's contents after power off. It would help to know which type you need?

If it is FLASH RAM the Sector 101 web site posted here by Miks will give you everything you need, including how to display what the EX5 already has installed.

If it is extra main working RAM you will need purchase a pair of DRAM SIMMs of the required capacity and fit them. The guide and fitting instructions are in the manual to the rear but here is a summary of what to look for:

• You need to use 72-pin DRAM SIMMs (4, 8, 16, 32MB) with the same memory capacity in pairs.
• You need to use DRAM SIMMs with access time of 70ns or less.
• Both types, parity and non-parity types can be used. It is also possible to use the EDO type.
• DRAM SIMMs corresponding to ECC cannot be used.

From my own personal experience I recommend avoiding SIMMs with only three chips, SIMMs with parity and EDO type SIMMs. You might get away with it but SIMMs in the era the EX5 was designed were frequently borderline for compatibility.
