Hi EXer,

Yes, those two items look fine. In all likelyhood, the capacity you mention will be fine . . .(32Gb is NEARLY 40Gb), I only went for the

128GB because I could  . . . . and to CONFIRM that the Fusion will only format up to 120Gb (which is TRUE).

In actuality, with all the extra Banks I have from Klaus, Joeri and Steve + the original Demos + all the Songs I have made - I have only used

~9Gb 8O

So unless you are planning a sampling-feste, or wanting to record HOURS of 8-track Audio, then it's not really necessary

One further thought - perhaps fit the 2 E3 modules? (unless this has already been done). I paid around £150 for my Alesis ones when I first

got my 8HD.

Brian at sector101 has them for around HALF that price . . . (I just bought 2 for my 6HD).

Good luck with the upgrade - and DO let us know how it goes . .

ATB

Thanks for that kind reply, parametric.

Sector101 EXM-E3 modules are already installed.

An order for a SSD is about to be placed and I shall keep you informed of any future developments.

I recently noticed these DOM (Disk on Module) items from my original supplier . . .

IF they will work, and IF they will fit between the two pcbs in the Fusion - it would be the neatest solution yet . . . .

Not sure what the jumper does - possibly MASTER/SLAVE? . . . . . . I've emailed AceSupplier to ask . . . .

Jumper might need to be bent 90º to fit between the pcbs . . .

I have received my PATA SSD and I have tested it in my PC. As of now I'm a bit reluctant to open my Fusion again (I've done it before to install sector101 flash RAM modules). At least I know I have a back-up in case my HD breaks down.

Just wondering: I'm not sure my PC is virus free, is there a risk for my Fusion if I copy the content of its HD to my PC, if I install the new SSD into my Fusion and if I copy that content from my PC back to the SSD in the Fusion?

To my knowledge, I have never had any problems virus-wise copying the Fusion_HD Volume folder back to the Fusion's HD (or SSD).

I do it once in a while just for safety, and of course recently when I acquired my 6HD - I copied the 8HD's Volume folder to the 6HD's SSD - so the machines have identical content (Until I make a new song  )

I have Avast (the free one) and SpyBot S&D (also the free one). I keep them updated and run them occasionally AND if anything "strange" occurs . . .

I DO normally run the Avast boot-time scan. It takes longer but is more thorough . . .(runs BEFORE Windows starts properly - so can look in areas normally inaccessible . . )

I also run CCCleaner to clear out accumulated junk and also the Registry Cleaner - as windows is SO BAD at leaving a mess behind when you do most anything . . .

Highly unlikely. A PC virus needs a running OS (Windows, Linux etc.) to be effective and needs to be executed in some fashion to deploy and spread. The Fusion files are essentially just another form of data file so are never executed. If a PC virus could ever wake up in a Fusion it would not know what to do and even if some mugwump would ever craft a virus for the Fusion OS it would not be able to deploy on a PC. That is not to say that in a Windows environment a robust anti-virus strategy is not absolutely essential.
