Sounddiver VL70-M Adaptation Works With EX5

Unread post by frequentmod »

I previously was posting in search of a way to edit the VL in my EX5R.

Had to grab bull by horns and disect the Soundiver VL70-M adaptation, the older 3.0 version of which had an incorrect device ID offset and thus would add the set device ID to an unrelated byte. I finally got that correctly working and then found a later 3.05 version which is quite extensive and works correctly with the EX5. So bottom line: The last Sounddiver VL70-M Adaptation works with the EX5. The only caveat at this point is I have not yet determined the SysEx string to store the custom element to the 16 slots in the EX5. But editing is thorough.

If anyone needs help with Sounddiver (Mac OS9 or OSX), let me know.

Robert

The VL70 adaptations need to have a MIDI channel ID offset set to 2 which is correct in the version 3.05 adaptation. For some reason the same author in his earlier versions and simpler adaptation set the ID to 6 which added whatever channel number you set in the device parameter box to the sixth byte of each parameter string instead of the second, so nothing would work, even for the VL70 itself. Odd.... Still not sure if Sounddiver can store into the 16 slots....
